Why doesn't today's data appear until tomorrow morning?

Because JAI reads a day properly only once the day is over — that's the design, not a delay. A day in JAI runs from 06:00 to 06:00 in your local time, so anything you say at 2am still belongs to the day that just ended. When that boundary passes, JAI reads the whole day at once, updates your charts, works out what connects to what, and writes your morning brief. You wake up to a finished picture instead of a number that twitches every time you type.

You aren't flying blind in the meantime. Open Progress and JAI analyses today so far on the spot — at most once an hour — so today's readings fill in as you go. That same-day read is provisional; the authoritative one, and the one that feeds pattern detection, happens after 06:00.

When does the morning brief arrive, and can I change the time?

It arrives at whatever time you choose, and yes — you can change it whenever you like. Open the menu icon in the top-left, tap Morning brief, and set the time. The default is 8:00 AM.

The earliest you can pick is 6:30 AM local. Yesterday's recap simply doesn't exist before the 06:00 boundary has passed and JAI has written it, so an earlier notification would arrive empty. Turn the Daily reflection switch off in that same panel to stop the notifications entirely — the brief is still written and waiting for you in the app, it just won't come and find you.

If you moved timezones, open the app once and the new one is picked up automatically. If notifications never arrive at all, check that JAI is allowed to send them under Settings › Notifications › JAI.

Is my journal private? Is it used to train AI?

No — your entries are never used to train AI models. Not ours, not anyone's. We don't sell your data and we don't advertise against it.

What your words do touch: they're stored in our database against your account, and they're sent to OpenAI's API so JAI can reply to you and analyse your day. OpenAI's API terms prohibit using that content to train their models. Every query in JAI is scoped to your account — no one else's data is ever in your view, and yours is never in theirs. The whole picture — who processes what, where it's stored, how long it's kept — is in our privacy policy.

How do I cancel or manage my subscription?

In your Apple ID settings, not inside JAI. Apple handles all billing for App Store subscriptions, so cancellations, plan changes and refunds all live there:

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap JAI, then Cancel Subscription.

Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Refunds are Apple's to give, not ours — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. And note that deleting your JAI account does not cancel the subscription: cancel first, then delete, or Apple will keep billing you for an app with no account behind it.

I paid, but Premium didn't unlock.

Tap Restore purchases at the bottom of the paywall — that fixes it in almost every case, including a new phone or a reinstall.

The usual cause is a few seconds of lag: Apple confirms the payment slightly before our subscription service registers it. If you hit that window, the app says “Payment went through, but premium hasn't activated yet. Give it a moment, or tap Restore purchases.” — which is exactly what's happening. Wait a moment and JAI unlocks itself the instant the entitlement lands; there's no need to pay again.

Restoring only works while you're signed in to the same Apple ID that made the purchase. If it's still locked after a restore, email support@jai-lab.co with the Apple receipt (Apple emails you one) and we'll sort it out.

How do I delete my account and my data?

From inside the app: menu icon in the top-left → AccountDelete account → confirm. It's immediate and it can't be undone.

That erases your entries, JAI's replies, every reflection derived from them, your goals and tracked fields, your notification settings and your sign-in identity. The full walkthrough is here, including exactly what is deleted, what is retained afterwards and for how long, and how to request deletion by email if you can no longer sign in.

Which devices does JAI support?

iPhone, running iOS. JAI is a portrait-only iPhone app — there's no iPad layout and no Android version yet.

You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password. Your account is tied to that sign-in, not to the handset, so a new phone just needs the same sign-in — your history, goals and subscription come with you.

Is JAI therapy?

No. JAI is a reflection tool — a journal that talks back and keeps track of what you tell it. It is not a medical or mental-health service, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is not a substitute for professional care. Our terms of service say so plainly, and so does the app.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please reach a person, not an app. In Singapore:

  • Emergency services 995
  • Samaritans of Singapore (SOS), 24-hour hotline 1767
  • SOS CareText, 24-hour WhatsApp 9151 1767
  • Institute of Mental Health, 24-hour helpline 6389 2222

Outside Singapore, contact your local emergency number or crisis line. Please don't wait for a morning brief.
